The Bible uses four Greek words for life: general aliveness, manner of life, lifestyle or culture, and Zoe—God’s life. There are three levels: animal and plant life, human life (sacred and holy, even to atheists), and Zoe, God’s undying life. In Jesus was Zoe, the light of men. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Nothing can conquer Zoe, but God laid it down in Jesus so we might have resurrection life. Being a Christian is not propositions, wearing a cross, church, tithing, or heaven after death—it is receiving Zoe, becoming a resurrected one, alive with new life. Like a baby is alive but does not know it, God puts Zoe inside at new birth. Eternal life is not future; it is now, stepping from death to life. We have Zoe, but faith brings it into experience. Selah.
