This teaching delves into the distinction between head knowledge and heart belief in accessing God’s promises. Over forty years in ministry, questions about unmanifested healings or unanswered prayers highlight the need for maturity in navigating delays. Trials, as in Deuteronomy 8, humble, test, and reveal the heart’s true state, exposing mental assent versus deep faith. Four keys emerge: trials diagnose without punishing, often occurring when God is pleased, as with Jesus post-baptism; they differentiate presumption from faith by touching the heart; they provide access to grace through recognized inability and dependency; and they demand honesty for transformation, as in Mark 9’s father crying, “I believe; help my unbelief.” True faith involves trust over independence. Believers are encouraged to seek wisdom in trials, connecting with God to discern His work in the heart. This shifts from conning ourselves to genuine encounter, aligning head and heart for promises to flow.
