Many believers treat 1 Corinthians 2:9 as a promise reserved for heaven, yet the very next verse reveals that God has already made known these hidden things through His Spirit. One of the chief reasons we have been filled with the Holy Spirit is so that we would know the things God has freely prepared for us—not only in eternity, but in this present age. God unveils His plans not through intellectual striving but through revelation, often initiated when He asks us questions. These questions are not requests for information He lacks; they are invitations to meet Him at a deeper level, to draw on the things of the Spirit rather than the resources of human reasoning. The danger comes when we approach God with pre-fabricated parameters—inherited from culture, denomination, or family—that limit what the Holy One of Israel wants to reveal. The story of David and Goliath illustrates this powerfully: Israel froze because they accepted the enemy’s terms, but David refused to play the wrong game. He came in the name of the Lord and let God define the contest. The invitation is the same for us: come with an empty journal, let God ask the questions, and allow His Spirit to reveal what eye has not seen.
