Getting a word from God is not enough; we must understand it and act on it — and sometimes the action is allowing the word to shape us. Much of Western charismatic culture treats prophecy as a brief emotional lift, then forgets it. God is more interested in identity and inheritance. The first step with any word is to test it by Scripture, as Peter did at Pentecost when he said, “This is that” from Joel. Unbiblical words must be thrown out, no matter how dramatic the packaging. Neutral words still require listening for what is not said. Go back to God rather than dream books or your own understanding; most revelation is a jigsaw piece inviting deeper seeking. Graham’s visa dream screamed refusal in the soul, yet the Spirit said everything was fine — and the visa came. Mary stored words in her heart and pondered them. Ask what *do* looks like, distinguishing rest from passivity. Like the king who fired only three arrows for Elisha, half-hearted response limits outcome. For larger decisions, invite trusted voices, because all of us have blind spots in the spirit.
