Now Faith: The Title Deed to God’s Promises

Faith stands as the vital key that unlocks everything God has prepared for us in Christ. We often explore many important subjects in the Christian life. Yet faith remains far more than one topic among many. Faith serves as the access point to all that God gives by His grace.

Everything the Father offers comes through what Jesus fully accomplished at the cross. We receive it not as a reward for performance but as the finished work of Calvary. Grace gives what we do not deserve. Faith receives what God has already provided.

As it is written in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

This week we return to the basics. We examine the ABCs of faith—what it is, how it works, and importantly, what it is not. Above all, we discover how to activate faith and put it into action in daily life.

Faith Is Always Now

The Bible presents faith as a present reality.

As it is written in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

I love that opening word: Now. The writer connects this truth to everything that came before, yet the word carries even deeper meaning. Faith operates in the present moment. Hope looks to the future. Faith pulls the things we hope for into the here and now.

Many people say they believe God will do something. They hope God will heal them one day. They hope God will save them one day. They hope provision or victory will come someday. That is hope, not faith. Faith declares that God wants to meet us today.

God desires to save you today. He wants to heal you today. He longs to fill you with the Holy Spirit today. He stands ready to meet your needs and walk with you in victory today. Faith takes the intangibles of “one day” and brings them into the present reality of God’s provision.

The Amplified Classic version expands this beautifully: “Now faith is the assurance, the confirmation, the title deed of the things we hope for, being the proof of the things we do not see, the conviction of their reality, faith perceiving as a real fact that which is not yet revealed to the physical senses.”

Faith acts as the title deed. When you buy a vehicle in America, the title proves legal ownership even before you drive the car off the lot. You possess the car because you hold the document. Others may ask where the car is, yet you can confidently say you own it because the title rests in your hand. God’s Word functions as that title deed in the spirit.

As it is written in Hebrews 11:3, “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”

Faith Precedes Understanding

We do not understand our way into faith. We faith our way into understanding. God calls us to believe things we do not yet fully comprehend. When we engage our heart in faith, understanding follows.

You were not born again because you first understood the book of Romans. You entered new life by faith, and now you grow in understanding. This principle applies across the whole Christian walk.

As it is written in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Without faith it remains impossible to please God. The one who comes to Him must believe two things: that He exists, and that He rewards those who seek Him diligently. This truth stands foundational.

Faith is not merely positive thinking or mental agreement. Faith perceives as reality what the physical senses cannot yet detect. It gives substance to hope and serves as evidence for things not yet seen.

Receiving by Faith What Grace Has Given

Everything God gives comes by grace. Faith appropriates it. If we only preach grace without faith, we risk living under a misconception that everyone automatically receives everything God offers. Grace gives. Faith receives.

As it is written in Romans 5:2, “through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”

Righteousness comes by faith. God’s love is received by faith. Provision, healing, guidance, character development, and living out the new creation—all require faith. Nothing in the Christian life functions properly without it.

Whatever is not of faith is sin. Jesus declared that all things are possible to those who believe. Faith opens the door to the finished work of the cross. Jesus gave up everything at Calvary so that from His fullness we all receive grace upon grace.

Living in the Present Reality of Faith

Consider this simple picture. Imagine someone promises to give you a car. They hand you the signed title deed right now. You do not yet see the vehicle in your driveway, yet you possess legal ownership. Your role is to believe the title. God’s role is to bring the car into your experience.

The same principle applies spiritually. We believe God’s Word—the title deed—before we see the manifestation. We do not wait to feel love before we believe He loves us. We do not wait for healing before we thank Him for it. Faith stands on the Word even when circumstances have not yet changed.

This truth transforms daily life. Instead of hoping for future breakthroughs, we learn to possess by faith what God has already provided in Christ. We live from the reality of the finished work rather than striving to earn what Jesus already accomplished.

The elders obtained a good testimony through faith. Abel offered a more excellent sacrifice. Enoch pleased God and was taken without seeing death. Their lives demonstrate that faith produces tangible results even when the full picture remains unseen.

I encourage you to grasp this one simple truth today. Faith is now. God meets us in the present moment. He invites us to pull future hope into present possession through the title deed of His Word.

When we live this way, everything changes. We stop living as victims of circumstances and begin walking as sons and daughters who possess their inheritance in Christ. We move from striving to resting in the finished work. We exchange dead religion for vibrant relationship.

This is the glorious life of faith. This is the normal Christian experience.
