Hearing from God must not remain a peripheral subject in the Christian life, even though poor examples have caused much of the traditional evangelical church to shy away from it. The antidote to hearing God poorly is not retreat but pressing into Scripture to learn how to hear correctly. Paul did not abolish tongues in Corinth because of misuse; he corrected the practice and insisted it operate in love. Most believers still lack a conversational fatherhood relationship with God in which He affirms, corrects, and leads. Many live in the waiting lounge of life rather than moving forward under His guidance. Churches and national voices have often missed the mark, yet the call is to learn, grow, and believe God for more. Hearing alone is not enough: prophetic words must be useful, tested, interpreted, and applied — not left as generic encouragement that can never be wrong. Like Joseph’s word of plenty and famine, true revelation prepares action. After testing, words that are genuinely from God will test us. Revelation, interpretation, and application form the path forward for every believer who wants to hear God with accuracy, clarity, and fruitfulness.
