The bible is not a book of information, it is a book of invitation, and a book of experience. It shows us the experiences that people have had with God and invites us to step into those same experiences ourselves.
The bible is the wardrobe that we walk through and keep going…………………
One of the greatest challenges evangelicals face is that we try to understand our way into an encounter with God. God is not against our mind but he is against our unrenewed mind. We can not think our way into believing but we can believe our way into understanding.
Heb 11:3 "by faith we understand…………"
Faith is not something that we work at or something that we produce by mental effort or exertion. Faith is not striving rather faith is resting. All the work has been accomplished by Jesus at the cross and the only work that is required is that we believe!
Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."
One of the keys to life in the Spirit is realizing that God initiates everything and then invites us to respond to him. God is an initiator and calls you to be a responder.
1 John 4:19
We love Him because He first loved us.
The sovereign move reveals the normal that is always available by faith
God has spoken to us in his word, our response is to say yes to his amen, "be it unto me, according to your word" Luke 1:38 Faith is simply our resting on the word that he has spoken to us.
Many years ago when I began to learn about healing I had the concept that faith was difficult and arduous. One morning I woke up feeling dreadfully ill, everything hurt and yet I knew Jesus was my healer. I walked the floor for several hours confessing that "By his stripes I was healed" (Is 53:5; 1 Pt 2:24.) After several hours of misery the Holy Spirit spoke to me and asked a simple question:
"If you believe that you are healed, why are you trying to get me to heal you?"
As I thought upon what he had said to me I suddenly came to the realization that I was healed, I was not even sure when it happened.
When you are trying to get God to do something, by definition, you don't believe that he has done it! "He who believes has entered into rest and has ceased from his own labour." (Heb 4:10)
God is calling us to step out of our experience and into his. Jesus emptied himself of all at the cross so that "of his fulness we have all received" Phil 2:7; Jn 1:16
The way that we "work out our salvation" is by simply believing that God is at work in us both to will and do………."
This day begin to explore, appropriate and enjoy the exceeding great and precious promise
